SIMON COWELL TAKES ON THE HEADPHONE MARKET

A long time ago, musicians, pop stars and hip hop megastars went around with the principal aim of trying to sell some records.

Then when that stopped being quite so lucrative they moved into fizzy drinks, action figures of themselves and the ultimate in megastar accessories, their very own clothing brand.

But for the last few years, it’s all been about headphones. Dr. Dre got the ball rolling with hisBeats By Dre line which has made the former N.W.A man an eye watering $300 million, before 50 Cent &Ludacris followed suit

But now, an unlikely candidate has stepped into the ring with Simon Cowell launching his very own brand of headphones.

The X Factor boss will debut the X Headphones in the latest series of the US X Factor and they will retail at $299 (£186).

Simon said of the headphones, which will be launched by his and Sony’s Syco Entertainment, “I simply wanted something better than what is in the market today. I’ve tried all of them, literally every single one.

“Sony and I set out to create the best headphone in the world. We are absolutely blown away by these. With the X headphones, it’s like being in the recording studio when the records are made. The sound is that clear.”

How much do you want to bet all the DJ’s in Cowell’s Decks Factor will be wearing X Headphones? Product placement will be rife!
